Alexey Bogolyuboff. Sledding on the Neva River... 吊り下げ型タペストリー

This reproduction of the original painting depicts common past time winter entertainment -- sledding on ice on troikas. In the Imperial St. Petersburg, it was the capital nobility's entertainment to have on the Neva River. This original painting was rendered during the reign of the Russian Emperor Nicholas the First by his court painter. On the left-hand-side of the painting, you can see the Petropavlovsk Fort. All Russian Emperors, beginning with Peter the Great, were buried there. The painting depicts peaceful times just before the Crimean War.
