Adult Chinook salmon can get up to 55 to 60 inches in length and up to 130 pounds. The sport-caught record for king salmon was established in 1985 at 97.25 pounds; while the commercial catch world record was set in the late 70's at 126 pounds. Before returning to their home rivers to spawn, Chinook may spend anywhere from one to eight years in the ocean.
