Assekrem is a high mountain pass in the Hoggar Mountains (also known as the Ahaggar Mountains) of southern Algeria, near the city of Tamanrasset. Famous for its surreal and dramatic volcanic rock formations that rise abruptly from the Saharan desert floor, it is a place of stark, isolated beauty. At an altitude of nearly 2,800 meters, it offers breathtaking, panoramic views of the surrounding 'end of the world' landscape, making it a popular destination for hikers and adventurous travelers. The most iconic aspect of Assekram is the view from the hermitage of Charles de Foucauld, a French Catholic priest who lived there in the early 20th century.
