In this painting of Bear Island Lighthouse by Maine artist Dominic White, a white lighthouse sits atop a rocky cliff at low tide. Bear Island Lighthouse protects the entrance of Mount Desert Harbor and is located on one of the five islands that make up the town of Cranberry Isles, Maine. The current lighthouse and lightkeeper's house was built in 1889. It is a family owned lighthouse and not open to the public.
