Blue Empty, Sky Kanji Japanese Calligraphy ポスター

A kanji is the Japanese word for Chinese character. Chinese characters represent an idea into one character. Typically, one part of the kanji is the meaning of the character, while the other gives it the sound. They are usually combined with other kanji to make complex words. This modern poster has Japanese calligraphy for the kanji 空. It can mean many things, like sky or empty. When used on its own as a word, sky is pronounced "sora" and emptiness is pronounced "kara". A word using this kanji is 空手, or karate! Did you know that emptiness is one of the 5 Japanese elements? The calligraphy was handwritten by me on a tablet. A beautiful blue background gives the impression of a midday sky, while keeping a modern style. The watercolor style background is simple yet beautiful, and doesn't take away from the gracefulness of the kanji.
