On January 1st Portuguese discovered for themselves Rio de Janeiro. There already were people living and burning their fires on those shores... In life we often discover what has long been known to others. We claim our truth and call things our own names. It may turn both good or bad for us. This is traditionally a day for new beginnings and leaving behind what is no longer necessary. Wishing and cleansing. And maybe we should claim our own land and name it ourselves. Out of their best intentions - but influenced by their nature - friends and family will tell us who we really are and where we are going. They will "name" us. But it is our responsibility to set our course. Only we may know where we sail. What is our dharma, our True Will. They have theirs. Still it is good to have friends. Nobody ever will understand us hundred percent anyway. I know I can't carry everything on life's journey and I can't go in all directions at once. I certainly do not need bottled bitterness on board. When sailing against the wind it is important to distinguish whether 1) I can gladly accept the direction and the struggle which comes with it, or 2) I am bottling friction, resistance, bitter resentment. If the second is true then it is better to course correct. Maybe I write a few things I definitely do not need any burn that piece of paper with say lavender, sage, thyme and juniper.
