Parts of the teeth: A tooth is divided into three parts. The crown, root and neck. The crown is that portion that projects into the mouth above the (gingiva) gum. The root is that part which is below the gum embedded in the jawbone. The neck is the portion which unites the crown and root and is surrounded by the gum line.
