Eclipse 2012 by Garret Moore is an image made from actual solar photography by the artist taken from an astronomical expedition on May 20th 2012 from the exact center of totality in the Nevada desert. The design is created using the real Mayan Calendar made of a dark gold metal with design elements depicting a Mayan motif and corner seals of a Quetzalcoatl Yin Yang. The beautiful background is from the Hubble Telescope image of a Star-birth region of our little sister galaxy the Large Magellanic Cloud. All together an uplifting solar record of this rare solar event that for this part of Earth will not happen again in our lifetime.
