Eid-ul-Adha (also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice”) is one of the most important religious festivals in Islam. It commemorates the devotion and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), who was willing to sacrifice his son, Prophet Ismail (Ishmael), as an act of submission to Allah’s command. Allah accepted his sincerity and replaced his son with a ram. Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated on the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar. On this day, Muslims offer a special Eid prayer and perform the ritual of animal sacrifice (such as a goat, cow, or camel). The meat from the sacrifice is divided into three parts: One part for the family One part for relatives and friends One part for the poor and needy This festival teaches important values such as sacrifice, generosity, compassion, and obedience to Allah. It is also a time for sharing happiness, helping others, and strengthening bonds within the community.
