Halloween originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, celebrated around November 1st to mark the end of harvest and the beginning of winter. The Celts believed the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead was blurred on this night, allowing spirits to return. Later, the Christian holidays of All Saints' Day (November 1st) and All Souls' Day merged with these traditions, creating "All Hallows' Eve," which eventually became known as Halloween. Over time, this evolved into the modern holiday with traditions like trick-or-treating, costumes, and jack-o'-lanterns.
