Aaliyah’s journey began in Vietnam, where she was born with a rare congenital heart defect known as a single ventricular heart. This means she was born with only one functioning pumping chamber (ventricle) instead of the usual two. Aaliyah ultimately became a CHOC patient where she received expert, compassionate care from her dedicated CHOC doctors and nurses. Her family remains deeply grateful to the CHOC professionals. Aaliyah loves to sing, dance, and socializing with friends.
