Sir John Arthur „Jack“ Brabham (Order of Australia + Order of the British Empire) 1926 – 2014 “Black Jack“ Brabham was Formula One World Champion in 1959, 1960, 1966, founder of the Brabham racing team and race car constructor. His successes with midgets in Australian and New Zealand road racing events led to his going to Britain to further his racing career. In 1962 he established his own Brabham marque. In the 1966 Formula One season Brabham became the first – and still, the only – man to win the Formula One world championshipdriving one of his own cars. From 1959 to 1962 and even later, Jack Brabham wore a silver Buco helmet with a black stripe in the middle and a circumferential silver band.
