Lubec Channel Lighthosue Painting プランナー手帳

Lubec Channel Lighthouse sits on the American side of the waterway between Lubec, Maine and Campabello Island in Canada. The painting above is from reference photos I took while visiting the area by boat so I was able to get very close and pick the best angle to view the lighthouse from. This painting is part of a project I'm working on to visit and paint all of Maine's still-existing lighthouses. Lubec Channel Lighthouse is a caisson style lighthouse also known as a "sparkplug" lighthouse. It was built in 1890. In 2006 it was considered obsolete by the US Coast Guard and sold to a private owner. It is currently sinking to one side and I fear unless something is done it may eventually be lost, which makes this painting all the more special as the lighthouse may be on borrowed time.
