The Salton Sea in California is a fascinating yet enigmatic inland saline lake situated in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. Created accidentally in 1905, this expansive body of water is now a critical habitat for migratory birds and wildlife amidst a uniquely surreal desert landscape. Despite its ecological challenges, the Salton Sea remains a captivating destination for nature enthusiasts and photographers drawn to its stark beauty and diverse birdlife. On a visit to California, I stopped into the Salton Sea Recreation Area and took this shot.
