A celebration of Samhain, the Witch's New Year, or Halloween. With its roots in ancient Celtic pagan practices, modern Samhain is still celebrated in similar ways. When Christianity tried to claim the holiday by eventually calling it All Saints Day (on November 1), the pagan celebrations remained much the same. As Irish immigrants began coming to America, they brought their Samhain traditions with them, which eventually became Halloween (named after All Hallow's Eve).
