This highly detailed graphite and watercolor artwork depicts a restored 1924 schooner under sail as it passes the Munjoy Hill neighborhood of Portland, Maine heading into Casco Bay. The black hull and ivory sails bass by historic railroad buildings, warehouses, and the iconic Portland Observatory, built in 1807. Even in the modern day, this painting gives us a glimpse into what Portland, Maine's working waterfront may have looked like in the age of sail.
