He started to preach in Albania under a Muslim ruler. His no apologies Christian preaching made many enemies. The Ottoman Empire seized him after he was falsely accused of being a Russian spy. Without charges or a trial, he was executed. St. Kosmas the Aetolian is recognized as one of the originators of the 20th century religious movements in Greece. He is also noted for his prophesies.
