This design features the national flag of Turkmenistan (also known as Turkmenia), which is a country in Central Asia. Turkmenistan is bordered by Kazakhstan to the northwest, Uzbekistan to the north, east and northeast, Afghanistan to the southeast, Iran to the south and southwest and the Caspian Sea to the west. The capital and largest city of Turkmenistan is Ashgabat. Other major cities in Turkmenistan include Türkmenabat, Daşoguz, Mary (formerly known as Merv), Serdar, Baýramaly, Balkanabat, Tejen, Türkmenbaşy and Magdanly. Citizens of Turkmenistan are known as Turkmenistanis, Turkmenians or Turkmens.
