Ukiyo-e Triptych: Steam Train at Takanawa Seashore ポスター

Utagawa Yoshitora (歌川 芳虎?) was a designer of ukiyo-e Japanese woodblock prints and an illustrator of books and newspapers who was active from about 1850 to about 1880. He was a student of Utagawa Kuniyoshi. The Edo Ukiyo-e artists worked from the 1600's until the mid to late 1800's. Primarily bulk editions of woodblock prints, the style evolved from portraiture and scenes from stories to views of nature and famous scenery. The peak of the period was in the early to mid 1800's when famous artists such as Hiroshige, Utamaro, Hokusai, and Sharaku perfected the use of many colors and highly detailed cuts. Most of the works here are from this period. All of our products are made with large scale images that have been carefully edited to provide the best resolution, color and detail possible.
