When William Randolph Hearst launched The MoToR in 1903, the periodical was mostly about the lifestyle of the motoring world, new repair tools and techniques, as well as the “business” of the automotive industry. In 1917 and 4 years into WW1 there are only a few brief messages about it within some of the advertisements, as well as an article detailing a French woman’s varied work in the world of “motordom,” which was thrust upon her due to the circumstances of the war. However, many of the covers are interestingly focused on strong women & motoring.
