California Hummingbirds

Anna’s hummingbirds (Calypte anna) are the most common, year-round hummingbird species in California, characterized by a brilliant rose-pink throat and crown in males. Once restricted to Baja and Southern California, they have expanded throughout the state and Pacific Coast, thriving in urban gardens due to nectar feeders and blooming eucalyptus.
