The hishi pattern, also known as the diamond pattern, holds a special place in Japanese culture and art. This hishi pattern dates back to ancient times and has been found on earthenware from the Jomon period. The hishi pattern was one of the yusoku patterns, which traditional decorations used for aristocrats’ costumes, furniture, and oxcarts. The hishi pattern symbolizes prosperity. Varietions of Hishi patterns are: Hanabishi, Matsukawabishi, and Hishimon.
