Lycinna (John William Godward, 1918)

John William Godward (1861–1922) was a British artist that worked in the Neo-Classicist style. Lycinna was the first love of the Roman elegiac poet Sextus Propertius and also a maid in the house of her love-rival Cynthia. She is modestly dressed in violet and seen against a marble wall which display Godward's wonderful ability to paint stone.
