NAHUI OLLIN
As seen on AKO's Art Journal blog: https://blog.ameliakolson.com/2025/08/art-journal-entry-2.html
A Nahui Ollin is an Aztec cosmological image that conveys the concept of the "four suns/movements". The four suns/movements refer to the four ages that were destroyed prior to this current age which will also be faced with a similar destruction according to the Aztec tradition.
The Nahui Ollin is symbolically represented on the tunic of the Virgen de Guadalupe as a four-petalled flower that symbolizes Our Lady de Guadalupe's unity with native Mexico and her pregnancy with the Son of God.
