The Pillars of Creation are a stunning and iconic feature within the Eagle Nebula, also known as M16. These towering columns of interstellar gas and dust are the birthplace of new stars. The pillars get their name from their role in star formation, as the gas and dust within them are in the process of collapsing under their own gravity to form new stars, a process that can take millions of years. Image was taken using the JWST Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam). Keep or delete descriptive text.
