Silam Sakma

The Silam Sakma is a traditional and spiritually significant symbol of the Limbu people, with the term itself meaning "blocking the path of death," derived from "Si" (death), "Lam" (path), and "Sakma" (to close/block). It serves as an integral part of Kirat identity, rituals, and culture, and is mythologically established to separate the path of the living from the path of the dead. It is also believed to function as a protective amulet against negative energies, bad luck, and accidents.
