The Great State of Michigan

Michigan became a state in 1837. Its coat of arms, which appears on the state flag, contains a Latin inscription which translates "If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look about you." Michigan is known as the Great Lakes State, the Wolverine State, and as a Water Winter Wonderland.
