The Northern Cardinal: Favorite State Bird

The striking northern cardinal is the state bird of seven states, and it is easy to understand why. They are gentle birds that frequently visit bird feeders, are easily identifiable even by the youngest "birders," and have a hard time hiding even in the worst weather despite their slightly less bright winter plumage. Many also say that cardinals are a sign of love ones lost as they visit us as a reminder that we are never alone.
