The William Morris And Company Collection

These designs were created using pattern samples from the original Morris Company. William Morris (1834 – 1896), the founder of the company, was an English textile designer, poet and novelist. He was a major contributor to the British Arts and Crafts Movement and the revival of traditional British textile arts. Morris and Company, founded in 1861, produced some of the most exciting fabrics and wallpapers of the era. Also included in this collection are the designs of William De Morgan, designing tiles, stained glass and furniture for the famous Morris Company. He especially loved to design fantastical birds and animals which is what you see here.
