Through the Bustling City, the Silent River Winds

The Werribee River is a gem winding its way through Melbourne's outer-western suburbs. I had lived in the area for many years before truly exploring the beauty of the river. Many people took up walking when 2020 and its challenges hit Melbourne and the river attracted large numbers - and I was one of them. Five minutes away from typical suburban blocks I found myself immersed in scenery that made me feel like I was walking in the countryside. The river abuts the main street of Werribee and provides stunning walks and views for coffee-loving Melbournians. My artwork 'Through the Bustling City, the Silent River Winds' features the footbridge that crosses a part of the river just near Watton Street. I was captivated by the detail of the bridge and the reflections in the water and thought of Monet's waterlily paintings looking at the plants spreading across the river's edges.
