Tribe Manasseh

Joseph was given two sons through his wife Asenath Manasseh and Ephraim. Her father Potiphera was a priest of the sun god in the city of Heliopolis. The name Manasseh translates ; making to forget. Jacob adopted Manasseh and his younger brother as sons. He blessed them saying; 'By you Israel shall pronounce blessing, saying "May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh!" Thus he put Ephraim before Manasseh."
