Uchinanchu

Uchinanchu is the term used by people from the Ryukyu Islands, particularly Okinawa, to refer to themselves. The term literally translates to "Okinawa person" in the Okinawan language. It is a source of cultural pride and identity, especially for those living outside of Okinawa. The term encapsulates the unique history, culture, and traditions of the Ryukyuan people, who have a distinct heritage separate from mainland Japan. めんそーれ , めんそーれ ! なんくるないさ... !
