William Morris: The Snakeshead Pattern

The English designer William Morris (1834-1896) created the beloved "Snakeshead" pattern in 1877. This rendition comes from a length of plain weave cotton manufactured by Morris & Co. in the early 20th century, in the collection of the Cleveland Art Institute (https://www.clevelandart.org/art/1953.329).
