This beautiful new infrared visual shows protostar L1527 as it is gathering material from nearby clouds to feed its growth. This photograph was taken by the James Webb Space Telescope Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam). The protostellar phase is one of the earliest phases of stellar evolution.
