Purple Christmas 招待状

This piece is inspired by a relative whose favorite color is purple. I wanted to design a Christmas card just for them-- though, I was a bit late on finalizing the design, so they will have to wait until next year. It was really fun to make this watercolor painting and I had a great time adding the little red and green dots at the end. It was a nice way to give the colors some range and introduce a traditionally festive element to the more celestial nature of the painting. The little dots look to me a bit like sprinkles which makes me think of Christmas cookies. Really, the dots are sort of meant to symbolize stars, but there's nothing wrong with thinking of the sky as being covered with sprinkles in my humble opinion, haha.
