Bright Ideas Greetings

Bright Ideas Greetings is the creation of mother-daughter duo Kathy and Rae. Since Rae was four years old, they have been swapping snappy commentary about daily life and big ideas. Some major personal and public experiences contributed to their latest endeavor. There’s the fact that the entire planet is being shaken like a snow globe cracking the foundations of normal life. There are the hundreds of folks in recovery who taught Kathy to see the simple truth. There is Rae’s recent remembering that writing and art and music are a life not a luxury. Then there’s the obvious and ignored cause of stress and conflict. We are living by definitions taught to us before kindergarten by people who learned them before kindergarten. And so on all the way back to the big bang. Maybe that’s what has to change. What if you can redefine all concepts that aren’t working for you like “parent” and “work” and “love”? What if you don’t have to wait for anybody to agree with you? What if a change in definitions is a change in life? That’s how Bright Ideas’ new definitions happened. Then it was just a matter of deciding how to share them with everybody. Sending or receiving a card that can change life for the better seemed like a fun and powerful way to be the change we all want to see. Best of all, it’s just a thought experiment. There is no risk involved. With the curiosity of a child, we can wonder how life would change if a new definition is true. Ideally, the response will be something like, “Ha. Wait. What? Wow.” Then “Let me see another one.”
