Since childhood I have been surrounded by creative activities and have continued to explore new techniques throughout my life. I was introduced to felt-making as a technique and discovered a great passion. My first pieces were wet felted sculptures but over a few years my work has evolved to where it is today and is now ready to go out into the world. The use of wool and the alchemy of nuno felt-making in the execution of my art allows me to use sustainable material which is both consistent with my beliefs and the organic nature of my work. Creating these pieces allows me to (hopefully) communicate some of my thoughts and feelings about the importance of cherishing the environment. I now create individual IMG_20180105_1pieces which I then make into hats, scarves, handbags and many other items. My work is constantly changing and evolving as I experiment with new techniques and materials. I am passionate about felt-making and recycling textiles and found treasures into nuno felt, always endeavoring to create well made felt work that will hopefully stand the test of time. Living close to the Sea and Moors of Devon I draw my inspiration from my natural surroundings. I have particular interest in formations created randomly along the coastline, often including found objects in my work. Walks on the beach, in the Devon lanes and on Dartmoor, my love of gardening and photography and chance discoveries spark ideas and experimentation. My work is created with love, hopefully some skill, and a piece of my artist’s soul.
