概要
In 2015 the founder of 'No More Hyphens', after observing the political discourse on display in the United Sates noticed most politicians both Republican and Democrat repeatedly made use of a particular phrase, "the American people". After some time it became apparent this was not an inclusive phrase that would apply or cover all Americans. This phrase was and is still used today to both distinguish and segregate specific individuals in this country.
The phrase, "the American people" is inclusive in its use or intent in the hands and minds of the politicians and other elected officials in reference to their political base........exclusively.
It is my contention that any group, community, people, or demographic that has a hyphen in the title or description of that particular people such as African-American, Mexican-American, Muslim American, Jewish-American etc; these groups of people are not taken into consideration or as "the American people".
No More Hyphens is a call to eliminate the hyphens and identify all as Americans as........Americans. This a heavy lift as most all funding disbursements, and gerrymandering of districts in every city in America are contingent on the census numbers of minority populations and anyone not recognized as "the American people" regardless of racial or ethnic background, are part of that minority whether they know it or not .
Whenever we are able as a nation to eliminate sub-titles and identifiers to define individuals or groups of Americans as anything other than "Americans", for those of us who are or would like to be "just plain old.........."Americans", we will have risen to a level of awareness not yet achieved in this country since its inception.
If you agree with 'No More Hyphens' and you are tired of arguing about it, please get a T-shirt (one per person please) and wear it. You will not have to argue anymore, it will speak for you and that is what we hope to achieve, to speak for those who cant speak for themselves.
