We invented the T-shirt! Hey, if Al Gore can claim he invented the Internet then we can certainly take credit for the T-shirt! Ok…it wasn’t us. Actually, many believe ancient Egypt as the birth place of the Tee. Dudes working on the pyramids made short-sleeved shirts out of cotton to help keep them cool during their long hot days in the Egyptian sun. The Tee shows up again in England around 1880 (those crazy Brits called them “vests”) as the first form of men’s underwear. Fast forward to WWII, American soldiers noticed that while they were sweating like pigs in their wool uniforms the English troops somehow remained quite cool. Their secret? You guessed it…T-shirts. Since that time Tees have become a staple of not only America’s but the world’s clothing culture. So whether you’re from Indianapolis or Istanbul, Thailand or Texarkana… every one digs Tees!
