How Kelly started painting is a crazy story in itself! Her best friend Carrie Kohan is a psychic. Kelly tells her psychic friend she's bored with life and doesn't know what to do next. Her psychic friend tells her to become a painter. Kelly tells her she's full of crap (apparently she also used the F bomb too). Psychic friend suggests they go to a paint night, Kelly says she would rather drink wine in the hot tub. So, they do... of course. Next day Kelly sees a painting on FB and decides she wants to learn how. She watches some youtube videos and then decides she's still bored and it's 3:00, naptime! So off she goes to have her daily nap. She asks herself "What does my heart say?" Quietly, it said "go paint." She says "Naaaa, what does my heart say?" This time only louder, it says "GET UP AND GO PAINT!!!" Reluctantly she gets the paint kit she won a year earlier and starts painting. She put her first paintings on FB and within five minutes people were wanting to buy them. She made $1000 in her first week painting. She had never painted before in her life! Next thing she did was create prints, cards, blankets PLUS classes! Yes people wanted her to teach even though she had only been painting for less than a month. Then she found a way to put her artwork on a blanket, ordered some prototypes and created a campaign and a fund (with Edmonton Community Foundation) called Blankets for Burn Kids. And now an online storefront with tons of great inspirational goodies!
