I have always wanted to collect, share and sell my illustration work online. I am a web designer and developer by day, and while I was blessed do every possible thing design-related at my first job, I have recently had to phase out the illustration aspect of my full-time work as I become more specialized. I love illustration though and refuse to toss it aside like childhood past time. It brings me so much joy when I am creating scenes and characters, and I get absolutely lost in it. I recently had a job interview where the Lead Designer was questioning my illustration page. He said it was the weakest part of my portfolio, and a portfolio is only as good as its weakest piece. I defended my work, explaining that he was in the illustration section of my website, and the sophisticated branding and web design he wanted would be in the design section. He didn't seem to care though, and I got off the phone realizing I would probably need to take my beloved illustration section down. I proceeded to dejectedly saunter around my apartment, wondering what I should do with all of that work. Twenty minutes later I remembered I had those safety pin designs my friend Deb had suggested I make and that I had agreed to put them on Zazzle. Boom. Store born.
