I have been a freelance commission based artist for a few years now, specialising in capturing family memories with paint on canvas but it hasn't been an easy journey. I gained my degree in Fine Art Painting from Brighton Univesity in 1998 but struggled to make a living after I graduated so fell in to dental nursing for 12 years. Life took over and I didn't pick up a paintbrush during that time. The turning point came as my daughters grew and I watched them explore with wonder the world around them. My desire to capture the innocence and magic on canvas became overwhelming and I began to paint. Friends and relatives started asking me to paint their own children and grandchildren in natural, relaxed scenes and my business grew from there with my work now hanging on walls around the world. My commissioned pieces often make the impossible possible, bringing loved ones together in a painting when the real world can't. In between my commissioned pieces I love to lose myself in a magical world of my own, from the wonder and freedom I see in my daughters' imaginative play to the secretive realm of fairies.
