▶ While living at the zen temple I learned about asceticism: A single-minded devotion & persistence towards a goal. I saw the beauty in a monk who had devoted his life single-mindedly to a meditation practice or a sushi chef that whole-heartedly practices making the best sushi he possibly can. There are wonderful poems, paintings, films and books written when someone deeply devotes themselves to something. So I'm making the same choice the other greats have made before me: to passionately pursue the best possible music I can make.
