Mya is a three-year-old Bengal cat who came into my care in heartbreaking condition. She was extremely emaciated, with a body condition score of 1-2, and is currently leaking urine and very lethargic. I was told she needed to be rehomed because her owner had passed away, but I later discovered this was not true—the surrendering party was actually her owner, who works in the medical field and has a wealth of knowledge in biology. Despite this, she ignored my requests for information about Mya’s medical history or the veterinary clinic she was seen at, and I found out she is keeping another cat herself. Mya needs urgent medical attention. I am taking her to urgent care for immediate evaluation and bloodwork to figure out what is wrong and whether she can recover from her illness. I also have a regular vet appointment scheduled in a few days to establish care and determine her long-term prognosis. The financial burden has been overwhelming, especially since I did not expect to incur so many expenses in less than five days. Mya will only eat canned kitten food at this point and weighs just 6.7 lbs, even after days of being fed high-calorie, high-fat foods. I know there are a lot of people asking for money right now. Mya did not deserve to be dumped like this, and I am trying my best to help her in this terrible situation.
