I paint a lot of mermaids because I love women, the ocean and fantasy. I feel our oceans connect all people and life. The ocean is powerful yet fragile. And I think women are like the ocean in many ways too. They are strong, give life, can be playful and soft while still being a force of nature. I like to capture their playfulness and ability to nurture. I grew up in the beautiful California foothills. As a child I was surrounded by the arts. My mother was an artist and a dancer while my father acted in live theater. My childhood experiences influenced my love for art.
