My partner would laugh and call me a "secret birder." But after several vacations-worth of going way off the beaten track to chase down birds I'd never seen before, she started calling me a "not-so-secret birder." And the moniker stuck. When the pandemic hit in 2020 and the performance industry shut down, I took my camera and my sudden lack of employment and started chasing birds up and down the Charles River here in Boston. I'm hoping to sell some artwork and raise enough money to buy some better camera equipment, because it turns out this is more of a passion than I ever would have imagined.
