OG SKATE ROCK

BITD, it was the late '70s and early '80s, there was a new energy in the air for the teens and ne'er-do-wells, who had an energy that could not be tamed. Some hopped backyard fences to ride their skateboards in empty swimming pools. At night, or when it rained, some translated their energies into music—inspired by the raging punk that had been leaking into the airwaves in the form of the RAMONES, the Clash, Sex Pistols, The Germs, and created their own brand of noise. Years later, I coined it SKATE ROCK, inspired by the skater bands that blazed the way.
