Pickleball_Kitchen

It was a beautiful Arizona evening in Phoenix as we waited for a chance to play Tennis. The courts were occupied so we waited watching the amazing Arizona sunset begin to take shape. The park had 2 tennis courts and 24 smaller courts all surrounded by green netting, I guess to keep onlookers from seeing in. It was a mystery to us newbie’s. We would hear something going on inside these areas when we played like pap, slap, dink, donk. We new some kind of game was being played and everyone arriving carried these really cool backpacks much smaller than our tennis bags. We waited awhile and then decided to go see what was inside these fences. There were 24 courts in all and it was an unusual night because nobody was playing. Upon entering we discovered miniature tennis courts. It was like we had grown 4 times our size. We actually got out our tennis racquets and started hitting balls over the net. We felt like giants. Then this guy came in the gate and wondered back and forth and then approached us asking if we wanted to play. We said "Play what? He said "Pickleball". We told him we had never played before. He introduced himself as David and said he would teach us and he had plenty of paddles. And so our Pickleball journey began. David was an amazing teacher. Very patient and kind. He taught us all the rules and played practice matches for about an hour. Then these 2 ladies show up and ask if we want to play and the next thing we know we are playing some serious Pickleball with some real ballers named Moe and Jackie. I was like wow this is a serious game and one heck of a workout. So from this night getting out and exercising and making new friends our love for Pickleball was born.
