It's time society became aware of rare diseases and invisible illnesses. It's my mission to make awareness fun and accessible. I'm an artist, designer, and author but sadly I've been left house bound by chronic mental illness. I've also recently been diagnosed with idiopathic intracrabial hypertension, a rare neurological condition which required shunt surgery to save my sight. I'm also being investigated for hypermobility issues and connective tissue defects due to early onset osteoarthritis, widespread pain, and ongoing symptoms. All of this has had a marked impact upon my life, and in a year I went from full-time employee, mother, and driven individual to house bound, in pain, with vision and joint problems. That's left me at a bit ofa loose end. As well as my own conditions, many of my friends have rare or invisible illnesses, ranging from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, to mental health conditions, to recovering from ovarian cancer at a young age. We all have our trials, and we all deserve a greater level of awareness in society. The idea behind this shop to to provide nicely designed awareness clothing and products for all rare disease warriors, their families, and their advocates. It also gives me something to do when I'm stuck in the house. I might not update designs regularly, as my conditions sometimes prevent me gripping a pen/stylus the way I once did, and also lead to fatigue and poor memory, but when I am able to spend an hour or two drawing, I will design for rare disease awareness.
