The Sand Bar Lodge on Harkers Island was established in 2020 and is located in the building that was the Sand Bar and Sitting Ducks Ice Cream shop. The Sand Bar was a popular meeting place for residents and visitors to Harkers Island for two years. In the course of converting the property into a residence, every effort was made to retain the memory of The Sand Bar, which had served the community in a unique way - where people could get to know each other and ‘where everybody knew your name’.
